Post-Doctoral Research Position in Nanomechanics at Northwestern University

Applications are invited for postdoctoral positions within the Micro and Nano Mechanics Laboratory in the Department of Mechanical Engineering, Northwestern University. The successful candidate will participate in a vibrant interdisciplinary research group and be involved in projects addressing electro-thermo-mechanical characterization of 1-D nanostructures, and probe-based techniques for direct-write fabrication of biological substrates and NEMS. Broad collaborations are facilitated through participation in the Northwestern Nanoscale Science and Engineering Center, the Medical School, Argonne National Laboratory and Sandia National Laboratory.

Requirements:

  1. A Ph.D. in Physics, Chemistry, Mechanical Engineering, Materials Science and Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related area is required.
  2. Working experience in nanoscale science and/or engineering, including at a minimum one of the following areas: micro/nanofabrication, nanopatterning/self-assembly, AFM and/or electron microscopy, continuum /molecular dynamics/quantum mechanics modeling.
  3. Strong verbal and written communication skills.

The position is available immediately for a period of one year and may be renewed thereafter. Actual start date is negotiable. Applications will be reviewed immediately and continue to be accepted until the positions are filled. Interested candidates should submit a CV, a cover letter describing their research experience and interests, and the names and email addresses of at least three references to Horacio D.
